Sweet Partners With Macy’s To Help Make Wishes Come True
Sweet is very proud of our work with the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade NFT Campaign, and we are extremely happy to announce that it has received the 2022 Golden Halo Award for Best Consumer Donation Initiative. The Halo Awards are North America’s highest honor for corporate social impact initiatives that use a brand’s financial success to help build a better world through engagement and providing resources where they are needed most. Twenty category-specific winners were selected out of more than 120 entries by Engage for Good at its annual conference in Atlanta, GA.
In celebration of their 95th annual Thanksgiving Day Parade, Macy’s partnered with Sweet to create their first-ever NFT series. Generative technology was used to create 9,500 unique NFT collectibles inspired by iconic balloon designs from every decade of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The NFTs were given away for free on a first-come, first-serve basis — remarkably, all were claimed in just over an hour! Ten ultra-rare NFTs were auctioned off to raise over half a million dollars for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, aiding their mission to create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. In addition, smart contracts ensure that ten percent of all future NFT sales on secondary markets will also go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, allowing them to collect charitable funds in perpetuity.
This campaign revolutionizes charity giving efforts since NFTs make it possible for the original charitable cause to be made permanent and immutable on the blockchain. The fact that these memorable NFT experiences were made accessible to everyone also demonstrates the inclusivity for which the NFT space strives. It represents the democratization of information which is the impetus behind the web3 experience.
